🍂 Crumbs & Blessings

A letter from the cottage | November 2025

🪟 From the Cottage Window

“November’s Crust of Gratitude”

The leaves have turned to embers, the meadow exhales its final breath of color, and the mornings arrive wrapped in mist. Here at the Bakehouse, the oven hums with cinnamon and memory. November is a month of gathering—of drawing close, of remembering what matters most.

This month, we’re baking with thankfulness. For the hands that help, the hearts that hold, and the stories that rise even after loss.

🥖 Fresh from the Bakehouse

This Month’s Offerings:

  • Shasta’s Sweet Surrender – A cinnamon-maple swirl loaf, soft and bold, just like our girl.

  • Joepa’s Joyful Crust – A golden sourdough with a hint of rosemary and sunshine.

  • The Orchard Blessing Bundle – A seasonal trio featuring Apple Cider Bread, Pumpkin Sage Rolls, and a handwritten prayer card.

🧺 Porch pickup available Fridays–Sundays. Bread Stand stocked with honor-system offerings. Message us to reserve your bundle.

🐾 Tribute: Shasta, Our Wild-Hearted Girl

She was the loudest barker, the fiercest protector, the one who always claimed the sunniest spot on the porch. Shasta wasn’t just a dog—she was a presence. A personality. A piece of our story.

When she went missing, our community showed up. Neighbors searched the woods. Friends prayed. And one brave soul donned scuba gear and entered the lake—because love dives deep. Thanks to him, we brought her home and laid her to rest beneath the orchard trees.

We miss her terribly. But her spirit lives on in every loaf that carries her name, every guest who smiles at her sketch, and every act of kindness that reminds us: we are not alone.

🙏 Faith Dwells Here

A Blessing of Gratitude for a Small Town That Shows Up

May the ones who search in silence
Be blessed with peace that lingers.
May the hands that reach into cold water
Be warmed by the fire of love returned.
May the neighbor who shows up unasked
Be honored in heaven’s quiet ledger.
And may we all remember—
That even in the smallest towns,
The biggest hearts dwell.

Thank you, Ten Mile. Thank you, Meigs County.
You are the reason Tennessee is and feels like home.
